Cleaning Of Sampling Kit

Objective:
To lay down a procedure to describe Cleaning of Sampling Kit.

Scope:
Applicable to cleaning of sampling kit used for sampling of raw materials.

Responsibility:
Lab Attendant       :  Cleaning of sampling kit
Sampling Chemist:  Supervise the cleaning of sampling kit and ensure that the documentation is completed.

Head  - QC

Cleaning Of Sampling Kit

Procedure:

Sampling kit includes
Plastic box, SS. Sampling rod, HDPE containers (for collecting samples), Cutter, spatula and Liquid sampling rod.

Cleaning Procedure
For Plastic box
Wipe an clean the plastic box with a clean cloth after the sampling.

For SS. Sampling rod.

1. After using the SS. Sampling rod, put it in plastic bag and label it “to be cleaned” and transfer them to washing area in central pharmacy.
2. Remove the SS. Sampling rod from plastic bag.
3. Clean the SS. Sampling rod with potable water.
4. Scrub the items with nylon scrubber to remove adhered material. Continue this operation till all the adhered material is removed.
5. Clean with potable water till no visible residue of previous raw material remains.
6. Finally rinse with purified water and air-dry the SS. Sampling rod.
7. Technical supervisor should visually check the cleanliness of the sampling tools / equipment's and make entry in the “Sampling kit cleaning record” (FM / QC / 002).
8. Pack the SS. Sampling rod in the Plastic bag and affix a label “Cleaned”.

For liquid sampling rod

1. After using the Liquid Sampling rod, put it in plastic bag and label it “to be cleaned” and transfer them to washing area in central pharmacy.
2. Remove the Liquid Sampling rod from plastic bag.
3. Clean the Liquid Sampling rod with potable water.
4. Finally rinse with purified water and air-dry the Liquid Sampling rod.
5. Technical supervisor should visually check the cleanliness of the sampling tools / equipment's and make entry in the “Sampling kit cleaning record” (FM / QC / 002).
6. Pack the Liquid Sampling rod in the Plastic bag and affix a label “Cleaned”.
7. Keep the sampling kit in the sampling area.

Note: The sampling tools / equipment's intended to be used for taking samples for microbial analysis is to be sterilized after cleaning.

Time limit for storage of cleaned  sampling tools / equipment's & its usage

Not more than 5 days, if not used within 5 days, re-clean the sampling tools / equipment's before use.
